A Face a Mother Should Love - Hand Painted Screen Print

I created this piece almost in a kind of fever dream. It was made by hand painting shellac on the largest screen I could find. The concept is that a mother (or caregiver) should love unconditionally and be there to support and be with their children no matter what decisions and paths get taken along the way. Specifically, I made this piece trying to express the joy and support that I hope my mother would have expressed towards her children had she lived long enough to see them grow up. I like to believe she would have been the biggest supporter of her LGBTQ children and grandchildren. The piece makes me smile but is also bittersweet. I know that the being I turned out to be is a much different one than she may have envisioned but I like to think she would still be happy and proud of me. I hope the joy and support I tried to create here comes through to the viewer.

I did the entire edition in a 9 hour marathon session the middle of the night and refused to stop until I had finished the entire piece. Because of this haste, some of the pieces have smudging,finger prints and there is some variation in colors across the edition.

Upon ordering I will send close up pictures of all the remaining pieces in the edition for the new owner to choose the one that speaks the most to them.
